Heraldry at Castle Ward

The fine House at Castle Ward is now in the care of the National Trust.

Bernard Ward (1719-81) was created a Baron in 1770 and Viscount Bangor in 1781, the year he died. He was son of Judge Michael Ward M.P. Co Down and of Anne Hamilton his wife whom he married in 1709. She was daughter of James Hamilton of Bangor, Co Down. The quartered arms below are therefore those of Ward and Hamilton.

Edward Southwell Ward 3rd Viscount Bangor married first Margaret, daughter of Rev Henry Maxwell, later 6th Lord Farnham.
